ritisfactorily to the Despatch of the Right Honorable The Secretary of State, that the letter of the Chairman of the Company to his Lordship is calculated to convey a wrong impression as to the extent of the duties imposed upon Jurymen in this Colony, and alludes in no way to the fact, which, if I mistake not, His Excellency will deem all-important in the consideration of the present subject, that where the names of two Clerks from the same firm are called on the same day the circumstance is always brought by the Registrar to the notice of the Court and one is always excused.
It may be as well that I should add, after having served for several years as Chief Justice of Hong Kong, that the Court is always ready to take into consideration every case of hardship or inconvenience which may occur, and when it shall see fit excuse any party from Service on a Jury.
